Welcome to Teener Baseball 2023

Happy 2023 Baseball Fans!

The snow is falling outside, but it’s never too early to start thinking about springtime, sunshine, and the crack of the bat. The State College Teener League leadership team is looking forward to welcoming everyone back to the Silvi Baseball Complex for another great season of on field excitement.

Our facility is among the most active in the Centre region, and we are proud to host baseball played at the highest level of multiple divisions. These organizations include:

  • State College Area Teener League

  • Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy Varsity Baseball

  • Penn State Baseball Club, NCBA Division 1 and 2

  • Centre Sluggers and Centre Hardballers Adult Leagues

Most notably, these fields support area youth through State College Teener League baseball from April through October. In 2022, we hosted nine full teams during the spring season and another four teams for fall ball. Overall, more than 120 young players played Teener baseball at the complex last year.

Our volunteers have been hard at work in recent years to improve the experience of players and fans both on and off the field. 2022 was a particularly busy year, and here are some of the highlights:

  • Upgraded to new website platform at www.statecollegeteener.com highlighted by a simple registration portal

  • Completely renovated restroom facilities with ongoing professional cleaning services

  • Total overhaul of the previously inoperable concession stand that includes new plumbing, fixtures, and food safety equipment. Certified by local health agencies to operate safely and effectively.

  • Repair of uneven parking lot surfaces

  • Large sections of fencing replaced including the entire left field foul line fence of Spectrum Field and a portion of the right field foul line on Airport Field

  • Installation of two new scoreboards with generous support from Blaise Alexander and McQuade Blasko

  • Replaced first base dugout roof on Airport Field and removed many low hanging tree limbs with direct support and efforts from Ferguson Township

  • New warning track material put in place on Airport Field

  • New permanent tarps for mound and batter’s box at Airport Field to maintain surface

  • Hosted multiple youth level tournaments throughout the summer with plans to do more in the future

  • Began partnership with faculty and students of the Penn State Turfgrass Management Program. Their guidance and effort has led to major improvements of the field surface including a complete rebuild on the pitcher’s mound and batters boxes, new sod installed along the baselines, and strategic spreading of several tons of new infield dirt

Plans for both the short term and long-term future include but are not limited to:

  • Integration of new infield dirt mix on Spectrum Field

  • Rebuild mound and batter’s boxes on Spectrum Field

  • New tarps for mound and batter’s boxes

  • Upgrades to outfield fence on Airport Field

  • Upgrades to on site batting cages

  • Rebuild bullpen mounds at each field

We are proud to support our community and work to provide the best possible baseball experience to those visiting the park. We are always looking for additional support for those that wish to get involved. We would love to hear from anyone interested in coaching, sponsoring, or helping with field maintenance. If you’d like to get involved, please email scteener@gmail.com.

We look forward to seeing everyone at the fields soon. Thank you for your ongoing support!

Sincerely,

State College Area Teener League Executive Board
